Srinagar: An encounter is going on between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district. A police officer has said that a night siege and search operation was launched in the Poshkiri area of Anantnag district of South Kashmir after receiving information about the presence of terrorists. At present, the soldiers have surrounded one to two terrorists.
The officer said that during the search, the terrorists opened fire on the force, on which the security forces also retaliated and the encounter started. The officer said that the encounter is going on and other details are being awaited.
Three people were arrested
Earlier, security forces in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday apprehended three people belonging to Lashkar-e-Taiba militants and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from awaited.
A police officer said that the security forces arrested the trio at Shengergund on Sopore-Kupwara Road in the Sopore area of north Kashmir district. He told that the trio has been identified as Mushtaq Ahmed Mir alias Lashkiri, Mudsir Ahmed Mir, and Athar Shamas. All three are residents of the Brath Kalan area of Sopore. A large number of arms and ammunition were recovered from his possession. Officials said that a case has been registered in this regard and investigation is being done.
