Rishitha Jaladi(Intern Journalist) Amaravati: As the lockdown continues in Andhra Pradesh, farmers continue to protest for Amaravati as their state capital. Earlier, the cabinet chaired by YS Jagan approved the proposal on three capital cities with the aim of Decentralisation and Development in all regions. While TDP countered the allegation and demanded a judicial probe.
Farmers of Amaravati have pooled around 34,000 acres for the capital city Amaravati, following the call of the former CM Nara Chandra Babu Naidu, through land pooling method. Since the previous decision of building The New capital in Amaravati is objected by the present government, farmers protest against the proposal of three capital cities.
Farmers wore masks, took necessary precautions and maintained social distance. Placards and banners were put up in every village stating Amaravati as the Only capital of Andhra Pradesh. Till today more than 53 farmers committed suicide to get justice. As Jagan reddy has only mooted the idea of three capitals, the final decision is yet to be decided.
