Rihsitha Jaladi(Intern Journalist): The 36-year-old Chinese professional badminton player, Lin Dan announced his retirement on July 5. He is a two-time Olympic champion, five-time world champion and six-time all England champion. Lin, who won gold at the Beijing 2008 and London 2012 Games, will not compete in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics which were pushed back to next summer due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Lin’s glorious career in Badminton comes to an end just over a year after the retirement of his great rival and friend, the Malaysian star Lee Chong Wei. Lin posted on China’s Twitter-like Weibo that quickly went viral saying: Thanks to my family, coaches, teammates, and fans for accompanying me through many peaks and difficult troughs.
