Delhi: (Geetesh Ujjainwal, Intern Journalist) Students of Delhi University have come out against the open book examination (OBE). From 10th July online open book examination will be conducted. Before that mock tests were conducted on Saturday, in which students faced technical problems like crashing of the portal and some of them who had completed their exams facing problems in uploading the answer sheet. This was the reason that throughout the day, students kept mailing the teachers with complaints. Slogans of ‘NO OBE’ are also written on the walls of DU colleges.
On Monday, some students gathered at Delhi art faculty to protest against the OBE, who was arrested by the police. Delhi university student union secretary Ashish Lamba said, ” all students and professors are in against of OBE. Due to lockdown, many students are in their homes and they are facing many problems. Students should be promoted by adding 10% of their previous marks.
Sanjay Bahidar, professor of Shri ram college of commerce said, ” this online book examination is going discriminate against students. An amendment should be done by the UGC. Students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses have to give their last semester exams. The professor is demanding that the students be promoted by adding 50 percent weightage of marks obtained in the previous semester and 50 percent weightage by assessing the current semester.
According to the information, about four lakh students, including regular and open learning, will be affected by this online open-book exam. On Sunday, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh wrote a letter to the Union Human Resource Development Minister, demanding that the online examination be canceled.
