(Juhi Aishwary, journalist): After Kerala and Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh is also going to become a state to use frozen semen. Half a dozen species of goat will be improved by this. Nearly one lakh doses of frozen semen have been prepared in the frozen semen production unit of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay University of Veterinary Sciences and Go Research Institute. The institute has received orders from many states.
So far, the frozen semen is being used only for cows and buffaloes. Now in Uttar Pradesh, frozen semen will also be prepared for goats. Unit in-charge Dr. Mukul Anand informed that its dose has been made available to Central Seed Breeding Farm, Hisar and the experiment has also been successful.
These states sought
Its order unit has received orders from West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. Some NGOs are also demanding, which will use it in various states.
This will also benefit
– The risk of infection in goats will be less.
– With the improvement of the breed, their ability to give birth will also increase. – The death rate of goats will decrease. – Now goats give seven to eight hundred milliliters of milk, but breed will give two to three liters of milk after improvement.
Income of poor will increase
A large section of small marginal and landless is associated with goat husbandry. Dr. Anand told that a study was also done about a group of four goats. Spinach is rearing goats for meat due to less milk. However, with the increase in milk production capacity of goats, it was seen that a group of four goats was providing milk up to eight liters of spinach. Spinach is selling one to two liters of milk and keeping the remaining milk for itself. Due to which his income of about one hundred fifty rupees a day is being earned. After this, when he sells goat, he gets the same price as he was getting when selling meat. In the meantime, he is also getting children of good breed.
Goat cheese will also come in the market
The demand for goat milk and products made from it is more abroad than in the country. For this, a processing plant has also been set up at the unit. It will also make goat’s cheese and other products. It is also planned that goats of the first breed are prepared here, and then they can buy milk directly from them and make their products and market them.
