(Riya Saha,Intern Journalist) Jamsedpur:90 morning joggers were arrested in steel city for not wearing maks in public and defying social distancing norms. Hence, violating COVID protocols to arrest the spread.
The arrests took place in Kadma, Sonari and Bistupur police station areas. All the joggers were taken to Motilal Nehru Public School compound in Bistupur, which has been converted into a camp jail for keeping the violators of Covid-19 protocols.
“Cases will be lodged against them and they will be released later in the day,” said Arvind Kumar, the deputy superintendent of police (composite crime control).
Given the surge in Covid-19 cases in the past few weeks in East Singhbhum which recorded 710 cases till Wednesday morning, police have launched a special drive to discipline those not complying with Section 144, social distancing norms and other safety measures imposed to contain the spread of coronavirus. As part of the drive, the street food vendors, in particular, have been asked not to open their shops across the three urban municipal areas of Mango, Jamshedpur and Jugsalai till further orders.
