Along with this, the round of waiting list tickets in trains is also expected to end. While giving information about the railway infrastructure and modernization projects of Railway Board, Vinod Kumar Yadav said that by 2023, the capitals of all the northeastern states will be connected to the rail network.
Yadav said in a press conference through video conferencing that by 2025, the passenger and freight capacity of the railway will double and that passenger trains and goods trains will be run as per demand. With this, there will be private sector trains by 2024. With this, the waiting list will be over and the journey will be easy.
Rail passengers will get the first confirmed ticket on the Delhi-Mumbai route. Railway has made complete preparations regarding this. After this, you will not have to wait for the confirmation of the train ticket on the Delhi-Kolkata route. Because the railways are making separate tracks for the freight trains running on this route. It is expected to be completed in the next 2 years. Therefore, one can easily get train tickets on this route.
Trains will run at a speed of 160 km
Along with this, Railways has also prepared a plan to increase the speed of trains in seven sectors of its high-density network. According to this, by 2021, passenger trains will run at a speed of 130 kmph and by 2025 their speed can be increased to 160 kmph. The speed of goods trains will be 110 km/h. Within the next 9 months, all trains running on the tracks of Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah will start running at a speed of 130 km.
The Chairman of the Railway Board said that by 2023, all the capitals of the North-Eastern states are expected to be connected with the railway network. Right now Sikkim, Mizoram, Nagaland is not connected with the capital network of Meghalaya. The final stretch from Katra to Banihal will also be completed by December 2022.
