(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): In the Corona era, while great examples of humanity have been presented, humanity has not been left behind. An ambulance driver in Kolkata allegedly forced two children and their mother, who were suffering from Covid-19, to get out of their car. It was told that the ambulance driver had asked for Rs 9200 to carry only six kilometers.
The poor family was not able to pay so much money.
The boys’ father said that after the intervention of the doctors, the driver reckoned at Rs 2,000. Two brothers – one nine months old and the other nine and half years old – were both undergoing treatment at the Institute of Child Health (ICH) and both were confirmed to have Covid-19 on Friday, following which their father gave them Tried to call an ambulance to take him to a government hospital.
The father of the children alleged that the driver demanded Rs 9,200 from the ICH at Park Circus to take him to Kolkata Medical College and Hospital in the College Street area. The man from Hooghly district said, ‘The ambulance driver asked for Rs 9,200 to take my sons to KMCH, which is just six kilometers from this hospital. I told him that I would not be able to pay that much money and kept pleading with him but he did not listen.
He told, ‘I kept on appealing but the ambulance driver removed the oxygen support from my young son and forced the children and their mother to land. I am thankful to the doctors of ICH. Because of that, my children were able to reach KMCH for better treatment.
