(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): A low-cost test kit developed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in New Delhi has been launched, reported to be the most inexpensive testing kit worldwide for coronavirus. The baseline price for the RT-PCR assay developed by IIT Delhi is Rs 399, according to IIT officials. But after the introduction of RNA isolation and laboratory costs, the cost per test will go up to Rs 650 which will be significantly cheaper relative to the kits available on the market today. It will produce results in three hours. HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal “Nishank” has released the “Corosure” research kit, which will now be available for use in approved testing laboratories.
