Dalit beaten brutally during panchayat in a land dispute in Sultanpur, video viral
Sultanpur: In the land dispute in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh, a Dalit man was severely beaten by the upper castes with lathi poles and slippers, due to which he was badly injured. The video was also produced by the accused during the beating, which later went viral. The police have registered a case against the victim’s son.
Controversy during Panchayat: The case is related to Agai village of the Dhanpatganj police station area. There was a dispute between the resident Dalit Kashiram and his brother Brahmadev here for a long time about the land and the road. The panchayat was running on Sunday evening over the land dispute. Lallan Mishra, Girish, and a large number of upper castes also attended the panchayat. Meanwhile, Lallan Mishra and Girish started fighting with Kashiram over something. At that time, the accused were abusing and slapping Kashiram and beating him with slippers. The victim Kashiram kept on begging for life but was not ready to accept the accusation. At the behest of the accused who are beating up, the video was also made by two boys. Kashiram’s son Kalicharan said that when he and his uncle aunt and two sisters ran to save him, the accused drove him away, threatening to kill them.
SP Dr. Vipin Kumar Mishra said that Girish and Lallan have been arrested after a case was registered against the victim’s son Tahrir and other sections including the SC-ST Act. Two other accused are being searched. A case of video capture and hostage is also being filed.
