Saloni Subha ( Intern Journalists ) North Bihar district bordering Nepal can receive heavy rain accompanied with thunderstorms for the next 72 hours, warned Patna Metrological center on Saturday evening.

According to the All-India weather forecast issued by India Metrological Department, a monsoon trough is very likely to shift northwards, closer to the foot-hills of Himalayas during July 19 to 21. Under the influence, several places of Bihar are likely to experience rain along with Gusty winds, lightning, and thunderstorms till July 21.

Anand Shankar, director in-charge of Patna Metrological Department said, “As per numerical assumption models, north and east districts of Bihar situated close to Terai region of Nepal would experience enhanced rain and thunderstorms activities during the next 72 hours. Residents are advised to take precautionary measures”.

Shankar advised people to move to the pucca house if they see lightning or hear thunderstorms. The district put on alert are Sitamarhi, Samastipur, Madhubani Supual Araria, Saharsha, Madhepura, Purnea, Kisanganj, and kathihar.

Meanwhile, heavy rain occurred in the northeast parts of Bihar on Saturday. As per the daily bulletin, Taibpur in Vaishali and Birpur in Supual received 180mm rain followed by Thakurganj in Kisanganj which received 70mm rain during the past 24 hours.

Muzaffarpur remained the hottest in the state with a maximum temperature of 36 degrees Celsius. The capital city Patna also reeled under the hot and humid conditions on Saturday with a maximum temperature of 35 degrees Celsius and 84% humidity.

Duty officer Sk Patel said, “Northeast, northwest and southeast parts of Bihar are likely to experience widespread rain while northwest parts may receive fairly widespread rain on July 19”.
