(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and SBI Card have made new offers for crores of railway passengers. Passengers will not only save on ticket booking but will also get many more benefits.
IRCTC and SBI Card have introduced their own co-brand RuPay Credit Card (IRCTC-SBI RuPay Card). This card facilitates contactless payment. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal while presenting the IRCTC-SBI RuPay Card said that “He will personally take care that this card reaches the target of 30 million customers by 25 December. IRCTC has a subscriber base of over 50 million and these customers conduct more than eight and a half million transactions on its platform every day.”
Piyush Goel said, “In the coming years, the central government is aiming to make every ticket online booking with a co-brand card. With this card, customers will not only save extra on booking train tickets. Rather, they will get many benefits from shopping, entertainment, etc. In the future, it will become the most popular card in India, with the belief that we will all take this card from house to house.”
Customers will get a cashback of up to 10% on the fares of Railway air-conditioned classes I, II, III, Executive Chair car, AC Chair car on payment of ticket booking with this card on IRCTC. There will also be the benefit of free entry to the premium lounges at railway stations, once in every quarter.
Payments will be done without swiping
NFC (Near Field Communication) technology has been used in this card, which allows contactless payment without swiping this card. In common language, such a card is called a Wi-Fi card. It makes India digital.
