Suparna Ghosh (Intern Journalist) Kolkata: Covid-19 cases are witnessing a huge spike in Bengal, especially in the North 24 Parganas district over the last few days. The state is preparing a fresh list of containment zones that needs to be maintained strictly without any kind of relaxations. The development came after a proposal from the North 24 Parganas administration to make a fresh containment list. “This lockdown in containment zones in West Bengal will continue for seven days from 5 pm Thursday. Will review the situation after seven days and then decide the next course of action on lockdown,” Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday.
As per sources, Bidhannagar, Basirhat, Barasat, Barrackpore, Bongaon municipal areas will fall under the complete lockdown. The administrator also proposed to keep shut the domestic flights from and to Kolkata and even the places of worship need to be kept closed.
As of now, Kolkata stands at 25,911 cases, giving a spike of about 1088 cases reported in a single day. The total deceased in the state stands at 854. It is truly important to maintain and follow the lockdown as the cases in India are rising day by day with no such effective clue of vaccine
