(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: In the country’s oldest party Congress, the demand for organization elections has increased these days. Many senior leaders vocal about this. Ghulam Navi Azad, the member of the Congress parliamentary party in the Rajya Sabha, said that even 1% of the people could not support the fact that someone should be appointed to the post of the president without an election.
Azad is one of those leaders who wrote the letter to Soniya Gandhi, demanding and Organisation election within the congress. Azad also said that “if the people who win the election of the organization to not lead the Congress, then the party will remain in opposition for the next 50 years”. Ghulam Nabi Azad pointed that “at least 51% of the people are with you when you contest and you contest again only two to three people within the party. One person who will get 51% votes, the other will get 10 or 15% votes. The person who wins will become the president.
This means that 51% of people stand with you. The person being president right now may not even have 1% support. If members of the CWC are elected then they could not be removed. So, what’s the problem? “
