(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: Arrested for spying for the Chinese intelligence agency, freelance journalist Rajeev Sharma earned rupees 40 lakh in the last year and a half by giving important defense information to the Chinese. Rajeev Sharma used to get 1000 dollars for each information.
DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav of the special cell of Delhi Police has made the shocking disclosure at a Press Conference on Saturday. DCP said that the Rajeev Sharma rights on Defence matters in the Chinese newspaper Global Times and in 2016 came in a contact with a Chinese agent. He was also in contact with some Chinese officials and in 2016 came in contact did a Chinese agent.
The DCP reported that journalist Rajeev Sharma was involved in providing sensitive defense and strategic information to Chinese intelligence officials from 2016 to 2018. For this, he also met Chinese intelligence officials from various countries that many places. Information on the Indo China border issue, the deployment of the Army on the border, and the strategy formulated by the government were shared in the meetings.
Freelance journalist Rajeev Sharma was arrested on 14 September based on information from the Central Intelligence Agency. Confidential documents of the ministry of defense have been found for him. Police also arrested a Chinese woman and her accomplice after questioning the journalist. They are accused of giving large amounts of money to journalist Rajeev Sharma through cell companies.
