(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Chandigarh: The Punjab and Haryana High Court has strongly commented on the failure of the Punjab government to get the railway tracks emptied from the agitating farmers.
The High Court said that if the Punjab government is unable to handle law and order, then tell it, we will issue an order and write that the Punjab government has failed to follow the constitution. During the hearing of the case, the Punjab government said that the government had vacated the tracks. On this, Additional Solicitor General Satyapal Jain said on behalf of the Center that Punjab is accusing the Central Government of not driving the goods train and passenger vehicle, but is not able to clear the track. He said that Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had written a letter to Railway Minister Piyush Goyal, demanding the introduction of a goods train and passenger train service.
In response, Goyal had earlier asked the state government to vacate the railway tracks and ensure the safety of railway personnel. Jain said that the Punjab government claims that the tracks are empty, but at many places, farmers are stopping the goods trains. They were intercepted and searched at several places before stopping the trains. Farmers are not even allowing periods to be transported in goods trains. The Center said that unless the Punjab government ensures the safety of trains and railway personnel, the Center cannot run trains. The High Court directed the Central and Punjab governments to try to find a solution to this problem. On the next hearing, the Punjab government has been ordered to inform the court about all the steps that the Punjab government has taken to open rail and road routes.
